| Well goodness it's been a long time, hasn't it. I've found that recently, I would rather just talk to those I miss than allow them to read my goodies without having to talk to me. As a result, rather than allow my blog to go into complete disuse (I don't think it fair to neglect the_light_girl simply because I am a grown-up now) I have decided to follow in the footsteps of several others and dedicate my posts to creativity no matter how uninteresting it may appear to the untrained eye.
Therefore, as my first post I would like to share with you my current victories within the yarn arena. As many of you may know, I live with a DEVO fanatic. We get along very well, though I fear perhaps he is rubbing off on me. DEVO now invades not only my Mp3 player and my schedule but now has infiltrated my knitting endeavors as well. Anyone who watched me go a little crazy with my knitting regimen this winter knows that I started and tore apart then restarted these fingerless gloves for Alex nearly a million times. The time and wasted energy in December yielded only 11 orphaned fingers and a worry that if I ever decided to actually finish one of the damn things, that I would not have enough precious Rowan to finish the job!
While on vacation, I had the time and the drive to ensure the completion of this pesky little project. They only took me about four days to complete, but would have only taken a matter of hours if I had foregone eating, sleeping and the like. I'm very proud of these, and I hope that they keep palms warm with fingers free to be dexterous.
Ta-Da!
For those of you not as well-versed in DEVO references, the Spudboys are a DEVO tribute band that play every year at DEVO-tional, a convention for the lovers (worshippers more like) of the band, music and message DEVO still (kind of ) sends out (when Mark feels like playing). Alex happens to be a part of the Spudboys, so I made these for him. Happy be-lated Christmas.
This next piece is a project I have had in my head every since I saw the Energy Dome (or "DEVO hat" to the layperson.) It is constructed with both knitting and crochet work, and I am proud to announce that it is of my own design... (the pattern, not the TM idea... relax guys. No Mickey-D's-New-Wave-Nigel here!)

This is what I do with my days off from now on. Knit, watch movies for hours on end, and wait for the day when I have to move. (Which is all too soon.) Blah. Hope you enjoy the pics, and stay tuned in for more knitting adventures. I promise, they will not all be this nerdy.

| I got all of my W-2s except for Cracker Barrel's. They always take forever to send them out. I am really amazed though-- there have not been many (or any for that matter) years where I can say that I worked at 4 different places. There was Cracker Barrel, The Clinic, Family Video and the Hospital. Shoot. I work too much. Glad that that was my New Year's Resolution. Perhaps when Vagina Monologues is over I can enjoy some of the time off I am forcing myself to take. I really want to be able to look back at my Senior year of college and be able to say more than, "Wow, I sure worked a lot." Damn it.
Vagina Monologues is coming along swimmingly, not for a lack of work on my part though. I certainly wish I could say that is was smooth sailing from here on in, but it will be workworkwork for the next 14 days to get this puppy off the ground. It will be good though. There were hiccups, but our girls are GREAT. They are so wonderful to each other, they look so great in costume, they love the cause and they perform well. They will be wonderful. I am so proud.
In other news, got a new phone... my mom finally got wise to the idea that a family plan would help me not starve. So instead of $70 on my own to stay within the lines of communication, I pay her $10 and I got a new Chocolate out of the deal. Shoot. I made off like a bandit, people.
I think i shall go knit. hmmm.
